This entry will be lengthy but I’ll try to keep it brief in the future. Be healthy, my friends!
Like many others, I struggle with finding my ‘purpose’ or ‘mission’ in life and have been seeking out any way I can to make myself feel better. As often as I prayed for guidance to know what I was supposed to be doing or for a small hint or idea, the only thing that kept coming to me was something that I really didn’t know how to do. I had an epiphany one night as I was doing my devotional, “It’s not about YOU, and it’s not supposed to be easy…” So here I am, trying to make a difference. There are plenty of health, fitness and motivational blogs out there. Trust me, I follow them! Hopefully this will serve as all three! There is a lot of information and it can be confusing and frustrating so I’m going to try to help by sharing my stories and advice. There’s more to health than just eating right and exercising. I believe wellness means something different to everyone and the emotional or mental aspects could be more important to someone than hitting up the gym or eating a salad. It’s essential to maintain a healthy balance in life mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally.
The more I sought after a relationship with God and stopped worrying about what I wanted to be when I grew up, the more at peace I became and something finally hit me! WELL-BEING! I’ve been through some health scares in my life, most of which you wouldn’t believe by looking at me, and I’m extremely passionate about living a balanced lifestyle. I love to motivate others and what better focus is there than health? Some people learn by reading, others by watching and the rest just have to experience it before it sinks in. That’s me… Apparently I must live through certain frustrations before I’m willing to submit to change, even if it’s good for me! I was forced at a young age to either be medicated or hospitalized on a regular basis or to do some research and take matters into my own hands. I’m thankful I didn’t have to do this alone. I have had amazing influences in my life and I want to be a beacon of hope to others. It’s exciting to see and feel the positive changes that eating right and exercising can provide. I don’t know it all! In fact, there is so much more I could learn and that makes me happy. I enjoy being passionate about something that can benefit others and not just myself.
There’s a lot of research out there and I’m eager to educate myself and gain the knowledge needed to support others. What I do know is the understanding that I have acquired from personal experiences and the enthusiasm I have for helping people in their journey by communicating what I’ve learned. I want to LIVE every day that I’m alive. I want to encourage others and share anything that helps keep me on track. I once heard a sermon that changed the way I look at life. The pastor said, “When you find your misery, you find your mission.” How true is that?! I want to invest in people; especially those who don’t realize the importance of investing in themselves.
I was told recently by a few friends to start a blog. A blog? I didn’t want to do it! Do I really have anything vital to say? (Is anyone still reading this?!) Plus, this is going to be on the internet forever! FOR-EV-ER! Scary, considering I’m not the same person I was a year ago and will continue to change. Hopefully the journey will be fun to look back on and not as embarrassing as those middle school pictures I found recently.
